    Computers are now a fact of life for just about anybody in business today. Computers are now more powerful (and complicated) than ever before. Everywhere I go I meet people having problems with these modern computers. They can not understand them, and are frustrated by how unreliable they appear to be. They want their computer to be as simple and reliable as their automobile is. 

    What they fail to realize is that if we made computers like cars, they would not be the bargains they presently are. There are MANY companies out there making pc clone computers, and the hardware and software for them. People literally do build their own computers from parts from parts they get from thousands of manufacturers. They then begin to install software from just as many different software companies. This would be like buying the parts to build a car from THOUSANDS of car part manufacturers and hoping they would all work as a car when you put them all together. You just KNOW that would NOT work. You have to get a great deal of your car parts from your dealer and NO one else. Also imagine if there were many TYPES of fuel from thousands of manufacturers. Do you think you MIGHT have some fuel problems? 

    When you consider all the hardware and software variety out there, it is a wonder that ANY of it works together well. YES there are LOTS of problems with computers, but I wonder that is is not even worse.

    If You want a very stable computer, purchase a computer from a company with a reputation for testing out their systems well, and making sure the hardware/software is solid. 

    There are many things you can do to get a computer back on track and working reliably again. This is what I enjoy doing. If you have things acting up on your computer, or problems to solve, that is what I enjoy. I specialize in Internet related issues such as web page creation and promotion. I also install businesses and individuals onto the internet, set up a web page with your own domain name, and put all the latest Internet software on your computer. I have downloaded the latest stuff and have it on cd rom for fast install onto your computer. I have the latest versions of Netscape, Internet Explorer, and will install and configure these for you. I also have all the special Internet software that lets you chat and see who you are chatting with, see when your friends are on the net, and contact them in real time, gather more news than you get from dozens of news papers and magazines. Learn about news as it is happening, and read the behind the scene stuff like the Star Report in the Clinton scandal. Watch video and listen to audio and radio from around the world in real time. Download cd quality music, and create your own music cd,s from it.  Let me be your personal Internet trainer.

     I found out over 25 years ago that I LOVE computers. Five years ago I got hooked on the Internet. When I purchased my first personal computer in 1978 most of my friends thought I was CRAZY, but now they all want me to "show them how". Now I spend much time doing just that in person.

    I have been enjoying computers since the day I first used one in 1970. I learned BASIC on a large mainframe computer at Dartmouth College where they invented the language. In 1978 I bought my first computer from Radio Shack and began my own computer club. I wrote a monthly column called "The Computer Junky" for Computer Trader magazine and wrote software reviews for Byte magazine. Yes…. I was bitten bad. The people around me could see this and see the passion for computers I had, and soon many of them were bitten as well.

    In 1970 I began the hobby of taping (sending cassette message tapes back and forth) and soon had many tape pals around the world. I have always been very comfortable behind a microphone. I have worked as an announcer on radio, and I am also a ham radio operator. In the past 5 years I have been taping to many friends and telling them about the Internet and computers. In the process I have been teaching them. They loved the things they learned and said I should make tapes for others. I now do this for clients, using audio and video tapes, and via the internet.

    I can show you how to set up your own web page FREE, and how to easily work around many errors that occur when you are browsing the web.. I will show you how to really understand what is going on when you browse the web. Knowing this helps you find things more easily, and avoid many problems that occur. I can show you how to download and install software and troubleshoot problems you have in the process.

    If there were just one thing I could teach everyone it would be how to backup your software. So many people never keep a second copy of the programs they use or the data they create with them. Eventually they have a system crash and recovering becomes a nightmare. Backing up the programs and data on your computer avoids this problem. It is easy enough for anyone to do. I have tested several systems and find that MANY of these systems will NOT work if your hard drive crashes and you loose everything and have to start from scratch. I can help you back up those important things like your browser favorites and bookmarks. Also you want to save all your email addresses in your address book, and contacts you have in programs like ICQ, or your AOL buddy list.

    If you plan to cruise the Internet and try all the latest software you also need to install some sort of Virus protection software and understand how to use it. Again this is like insurance against the loss of programs and data that are on your computer.

    Want to learn exactly how computers work? Perhaps you want to design your own web pages. These are just a few of the subjects you can learn about. It is all up to you and it starts at your level and goes at your own pace.

    I have some tapes that are already ;made up, and for other subjects I will make tapes just for you. I can make the tapes on either audio cassette or video cassette. We can discuss what it is you want to learn and go at your own pace doing just that. You do not have to tape back but can instead write or email me back. The tapes will be one to 2 hours long; Cost will be $25/hr. You can also have 5 hours for $100

    You would be amazed at how much you can learn in one hour. If I were teaching you in person, you might forget much of what I said, however with video or audio tape, you can play it over and over until you have absorbed it all.

    You have heard of the personal fitness trainer. This is someone who meets with you and designs a fitness lifestyle to fit your life. He offers more than just going to a health club and working out, he offers that personal touch. This is just what I want to do for you.

    If you think you can NOT learn computers because you are too old, too dumb or whatever excuse It is not true. Sometimes you just need is a friend to come into your life and help you one on one. This is what I love to do and once we meet, I am sure you will see that. You will never know unless you give it a try.
